home sweet home

Well I made it back home yesterday night, hopped up on popeye's and dayquil. It is really nice to be home, I will tell you that. It is very relaxing and stress free, which is exactly what I need right now. School/life has been increasingly stressful and taxing lately, which probably aided in me coming down with the black plague.

Speaking of the plague, since Wednesday I have pretty much felt like complete shit. Ever since getting home, I have done NOTHING except watch either the Bruins, Celtics and NCAA Conference tournament games. Tomorrow is looking more of the same, as the ACC and the Big Ten final is taking place. I am really interested in the ACC Final. Florida State, riding high from an upset over UNC (much to Clark's dismay), will be taking on Duke. I am a Duke fan, and I enjoy watching this team due to their penchant to jack threes, so I'll be cheering for the Dukies. With that said, I could see FSU easily handling Duke tomorrow if they play the way they did against UNC. FSU was playing an utmost physical game, constantly hounding Hansborough when he got the ball down low. FSU probably got away with 1000 fouls (2000 according to Clark). But refs appeared to not have the ability to call every single one, so their strategy worked out. Duke really doesn't have that dominant low post presence though. But if FSU gets physical with Singler and Henderson and takes them out of their comfort zones, FSU will be your surprise winner of the ACC.

The Bruins and Celtics are also action tomorrow, which is awesome. I am going to be doing some intense channel flipping! Watching Bruins and Celtics games at this point of the season, I can't help but be looking forward to the playoffs. I am PUMPED for both of their playoff series to begin. I have always been a casual fan of the Bruins (following the team, watching them occasionally) but this year I have made it more of a point to watch them and it has been awesome! This was also partially pushed on me by Lordy, who loves the B's. It has also helped that the Bruins are awesome this year. I am really looking forward to them in the playoffs!

The same can be said for the Celtics. I think the additions of Marbury and Mikki Moore have made this team real good. I was skeptical on both signings, but after watching them play, I am completely sold on both of them. Moore provides some athletic length, something we were sorely missing off the bench. Leon Powe and Big Baby have been solid off the bench, but they aren't legit 5s (and they are certainly not shot blocking threats). With that said, Leon Powe is a monster. I have a monster man crush on him. I think he could be a 20-10 guy. That may be over-shooting it ... but he is just a monster and I love him. Anyways ... Marbury has also been great addition in my eyes as well. He gives the Celts a true 1 off the bench (because House and Pruitt are not). Pruitt has the potentially to be one down the road, but for now, he is not. Marbury is an accomplished point guard and to boot, he is a bona fide scorer, something else the Celts needed off the bench. Come playoff time, when Celts are back at full strength (getting KG, Big Baby, Tony Allen back), they are going to be nasty strong.

Back to the purpose of this blog, poker. I have only played 1 tornament since being sick (crazy, I know). It was today, I cashed in the $3 rebuy tourney for minimal $. JJ < KJo .. yuck. Nothing really special to say there. I'll probably play tomorrow, since I never get to on Sunday and that is when the fields and $$ is huge. So we'll see how that goes. I usually play well after taking breaks, so hopefully that pans out tomorrow, because it did tonight.

I am def. liking the idea of branching this blog out to wherever I damn well want it to go .. so thanks Casie! For example, the sports rant there ... not planned at all. But it was on my mind so I wrote about it. I get blogs. They make sense.

But alright, I am going to go chug some nyquil and watch Man v.s. Food. Get at me world.
